G Gallery's “Brilliant Designs”

Body

“Brilliant design” is a hallmark at Griffin Technology. The company designs and builds the accessories people need to get the most out of their digital media players, computers, TVs, and stereos. Recruiting and retaining a creative workforce is crucial to Griffin’s success.

To inspire employees’ creativity, Griffin Technology created the G Gallery at the company’s headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee. The gallery gives all employees an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. The exhibits—including paintings, sketches, music, video, photography, and more—are changed out quarterly and feature works from all departments.

At the entrance to the gallery, a sign reads: “Because we exist outside the roles we play here at Griffin, we’ve established G Gallery—an evolving collection of art created by the people who work here & in Griffin offices around the world. G Gallery is a bold statement about the power of making things. Because whether we’re here at work, or at home in a studio, or up on a stage, we are so much more than our job titles & team responsibilities. We are what we create.”

“G Gallery gives Griffin the opportunity to learn more about, and essentially take a very small part in, the creative lives of our employees,” said Human Resources Manager Jessica Withers, who helped create and helps maintain the gallery display. “I believe the Gallery gives us all a chance to learn more about each other, and even gives opportunities for a conversation to start with someone that we may otherwise not talk to outside of our regular business groups/discussions.”

In addition to featuring employees’ creative work in the G Gallery, Griffin’s senior leadership encourages all employees to participate in the company’s arts education partnerships. For example, Griffin has partnered with a local school to give students interested in art and design the opportunity to engage with staff to enhance their own classwork and learn more about what careers may be available to them in the future. Employees volunteer their time to assist with in-class design projects, help with field trips, and provide job shadowing opportunities, leading the way for the next generation of brilliant designers.
