Giving the Gift of Music

Over the last decade, Guitar Center has placed purposeful focus on supporting musicians by making musical instruments accessible to everyone, not only by providing a retail channel for consumers to purchase instruments, but also through supporting music education programs in schools and music charities. The benefits of playing music are well documented, and the company is focusedon doing its part to help alleviate all obstacles, so everyone can experience the joy that comes from learning to make music.

The company’s support for the arts focuses on music education programs and music educators.

Guitar Center responds to requests for support for music education programs and music educators. The company receives approximately 3,500 requests from local charities across the country through its donations and charitable giving page.

They have worked with a school in Pasadena, CA to replace audio equipment and instruments that were stolen from John Marshall Fundamental Secondary School. They have also supported, Little Kids Rock, the nation’s leading nonprofit provider of free music instruction and instruments to public school childrenin underserved or underprivileged schools for years.  In a special event, Guitar Center partnered with GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat to provide PS 182 in New York a generous donation of gear that benefitted 300 - 400 students.

The Guitar Center recently teamed up with the National PTA® to bring resources to families, schools and PTAs across the country to inspire students' creativity through the National PTA Reflections arts in education program.

As part of the collaboration, Guitar Center will donate musical instruments to a number of local PTAs across the country to support their arts education efforts, inspire students to participate in the National PTA Reflections program and spark students' interest to create music. Local PTAs will also have the opportunity to tap into a wide range of support from Guitar Center locations in their areas, such as having Guitar Center instructors serve as judges for their Reflections programs, a recognition program through which students are encouraged to explore their creativity and be involved in the arts—in the classroom and at home.
