PNC Bank, a 2013 BCA 10: Best Businesses Partnering with the Arts in America honoree, is extending its Arts Alive! program, which awards funds to visual and performing arts programs and organizations in Greater Philadelphia, South New Jersey, Central Ohio, St. Louis and Southern Illinois.
Since 2009, the PNC Foundation has provided $5 million to more than 120 arts programs and 55 organizations to support new exhibitions and festivals, pop-up theater and musical performances, mobile arts vans, family arts events and other arts programs. PNC has just announced that it will set aside another $1 million to fund programs that run June 1, 2014, through December 31, 2015.
PNC Arts Alive! grantees are provided funds to make the arts more accessible to diverse audiences by offering free and discounted arts programming, public events that introduce the arts in unexpected ways, ticket subsidy programs to fill houses, and innovative programs that engage and build young audiences.Grantees are also supported with the full backing of the Bank’s client and community relations departments, including ongoing advice, a marketing tool-kit, promotion of Arts Alive events throughout the Bank’s extensive retail network, and in some cases, access to the branches to host programs.
Another program through which PNC is spearheading stronger arts and business alliances is PNC Grow Up Great, a $350 million, multi-year, bilingual initiative that began in 2004 to help prepare children from birth to age five for success in school and life. The video below details how arts and science programming like Grow Up Great offers children new learning experiences they may not otherwise have, and Jim Rohr, Chairman of PNC Bank, addresses the value of early arts and science educationat the following link.
Congratulations to PNC Bank for continuing to be one of the best businesses partnering with the arts in America!
