If you’ve ever wondered what can be accomplished in 11 weeks by a class of college seniors equipped with animation software, the answer is – a lot, actually.
The Arts & Business Council of Miami recently worked with a class at Miami International University of Art & Design in celebration of its 30th anniversary, challenging students to depict the creative ecosystem in Miami in a digital media project. The partnership not only demonstrated that the arts lead to innovation, but also provided students with a real-world client experience – perfect for a senior portfolio!
Students developed story boards, pitched their ideas and gave final presentations, all the while exploring the ways that arts have been essential to the business sector in Miami. And like the good millennials they are, tracked their progress online using the hashtag #MIUABC.
The results were incredible. Though the aesthetic themes and content varied, the message was the same: if businesses are looking for transformative strategies, look no further than the arts! One student, Bernadette Lim, echoed the pARTnership Movement’s message with her project, 8 Reasons to Join the Arts. Each final project involved animated logos that will be featured on the Arts & Business Council of Miami’s website, and were shown at the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affair’s Breakfast with the Arts & Hospitality Industry. The Arts & Business Council of Miami even got a video out of it! You can see how these animations will be used in the cultural tourism outreach efforts and learn more about arts biz partnerships in Miami here.
