Black Friday... Cyber Monday... #GivingTuesday! #GivingTuesday, the worldwide movement to create a national day of giving, is celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving -- this year, Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The pARTnership Movement encourages our network of business leaders and companies to participate in #GivingTuesday through the arts by sharing our messaging campaign, including the 8 reasons businesses partner with the arts, with employees, colleagues and friends.

Join Americans for the Arts in the spirit of giving. Consider making a gift to Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for the advancement of the arts and arts education. As a thank you for your support, #GivingTuesday donors will receive an Americans for the Arts tote bag (while supplies last)!

In addition, you can support Americans for the Arts by shopping on Amazon! That's right -- when you shop on AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of your purchase price to Americans for the Arts. AmazonSmile has the same products, same prices, and same service that you have come to know and love from Amazon. Just start your shopping at smile.amazon.com and select "Americans for the Arts Inc" to support our cause.

Share your #GivingTuesday stories with us! We'd love to hear how you have supported the arts around the nation, and will work with you to promote your story nationally on the pARTnership Movement website.

Celebrate International Corporate Philanthropy Day

Today, companies around the world are celebrating the business community’s investment in creating a healthier, stronger society by taking part in the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy’s (CECP) annual International Corporate Philanthropy Day (ICPD)

Among the companies taking part in International Corporate Philanthropy Day are past BCA 10 winners Con Edison and Travelers.  Con Edison promotes its commitment to the arts in its ICPD statement saying, “Con Edison supports Queens Theatre’s diverse programming at this premier performing arts venue. To foster greater cultural awareness and appreciation, the Theatre presents and produces programs featuring international, national, and local artists.”

Travelers released its first digital community giving report in conjunction with ICPD.  Marlene Ibsen, Travelers Vice President of Community Relations and CEO of the Travelers Foundation said, “While the economy continued to challenge many of the nonprofits supported by Travelers, our commitment to breaking down barriers to success and creating opportunity through education, arts, culture and community development has been steadfast.”

These are just two examples of companies that understand the value of partnering with the arts as part of their corporate philanthropy.  And we are happy to join the celebration to promote the work of Travelers, Con Edison and all of the companies taking part in International Corporate Philanthropy Day.

Visit CECP’s website and see how you can join the celebration.
